Task 53 is an initiative under the Electric Vehicle Technology Collaboration Programme of the International Energy Agency (IEA) which focusses primarly on the following aspects:
- Interoperability Standards on a Global Scale: Task 53 aims to propose a specification of the existing ISO15118-20 to enable seamless communication between electric vehicles (EVs), charging infrastructure, and the power grid. This includes identifying current bugs and gaps in the existing protocols.
- Collaboration and Partnerships:
The initiative promotes collaboration among countries, industry partners, research institutions, and regulators to unify efforts in V2G technologies.
- Pilot Projects and Testing:
Task 53 supports testing in real-world environments to validate the functionality and benefits of V2G systems. This helps in assessing the technical and economic viability of these technologies.
