Critical Mass Reached

Our recent partnership with DSO ESB Networks brings us to the 3:3:5 critical mass required to start the multi-party interoperability testing. With industry leaders like Renault Group, Toyota, TRATON, Volkswagen Group and Volvo Cars on board, our partnership now represents 33% of the world’s passenger cars and 24% of all global Car OEMs. While the Task 53 Team will now shift its focus from proactive partner acquisition towards operational activities, Task 53 remains open to discussing the potential added value of additional partners interested in joining, particularly organizations that have already expressed their interest but have not yet formally decided to participate.

First AC-Pre-Test 

The first AC pre-test was successfully completed by EN Plus at the DEKRA laboratory in the Netherlands.

Our testing approach is based on a continuous improvement process (CIP) carried out across five parallel laboratories. The process follows a structured cycle: define, test, identify failures, improve, update, and repeat.

Test results are shared with the Task 53 technical task forces, where any issues are analyzed and solutions are developed. The resulting improvements are then incorporated into the next testing cycle, for a continuous and efficient process of refinement.

The goal is o etablish a structured and repeatable testing process that enables participating laboratories to share lessons learned and test outcomes while still protecting company confidential information.

Subset ISO 15118 - 20 DC

One of e the result of many consensus findings of the task forces is the agreement on the subset 15118-20.

The figure illustrates how Task 53 reduced the implementation complexity of ISO 15118-20 for the DC bidirectional power transfer in dynamic mode. In the original standard, the relevant scope contains 186 parameters: 129 mandatory and 57 optional. The Task 53 subset reduces this to a clearly defined set of 150 mandatory parameters, with three additional parameters only omitted when no corresponding notification is required. By eliminating optional choices and defining exactly which parameters must be transmitted, the subset significantly reduces the number of possible implementation variants. This makes communication paths more consistent, lowers the risk of differing interpretations and implementation errors, and ultimately improves communication-based multiparty interoperability between EVs and EVSEs. In a later stage additional aspects such as TLS 1.3, service renegotiation, and others will be added to the subset.

Update from North America

The Presentation we Never Got to Give

Bjoern was scheduled to present a Task 53 paper from the core team at the prestigious EVS 39 conference at Long Beach, California on June 24th.

The title of the paper: ''Advancing Global Interoperability for Vehicle-to-Grid Technology: Insights from Task 53.''

The presentation explains how Task 53 is working to solve one of the biggest challenges facing V2G: multipart-party interoperability.

Unfortunately, the conference was canceled; we do not know the reason.

Rather than let the work sit on Bjoern’s computer, we've decided to share the presentation and the paper.
