Task 53, together with VGIC, visited Vancouver and Victoria from February 24–27, 2026, to explore opportunities for collaboration on clean energy and V2G integration.
The visit began with participation in the Clean Energy Summit 2026, including a panel discussion on the evolving role of V2G in the energy transition. Industry leaders shared perspectives on how bidirectional charging can support grid flexibility and accelerate electrification.
The program also included meetings with key public and private stakeholders. Discussions were held with the City of Vancouver, and BC Hydro hosted a ''National Utilities Webinar'' with participants from all over Canada.
Participants also visited a Purolator logistics facility in Richmond to discuss fleet electrification and infrastructure needs for medium to heavy-duty vehicles. Further engagement with port and infrastructure stakeholders took place during a meeting hosted by Norda Stelo.
The visit concluded in Victoria with a government meeting bringing together international V2G experts from Task 53 and VGIC to exchange experiences and discuss policy and implementation pathways.
Overall, the trip strengthened dialogue between Task 53 and the Canadian and British Columbia governments, utilities, and industry partners and helped identify practical next steps to accelerate the deployment of vehicle-to-grid technologies. |
